Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin

Saint-Thomas-d'Aquin
Paris 7e

Like Aristotle, he believed that happiness was the goal of existence...

Architecture

A former aristocratic area, the architecture has followed the contours of this history, as witnessed by the magnificent private mansions on Rue de Grenelle and those scattered around Rue de Varenne and Rue Verneuil.

The architecture, which is mostly Hausmannian in style, is punctuated by neo-classical buildings like the Palais Bourbon's façade. Some stunning 18th-century buildings are a reminder of the area's noble past, such as the Hôtel de Bérulle and the Hôtel of the father of the Marquise de Montespan at 27 Rue Saint-Guillaume (yes, the entrance to the Institut d'études politiques!).

The Saint-Clothilde Basilica and the church of Saint-Thomas-D'Aquin are also pious witnesses to the Grand Siècle.

Elegant, calm and just a short stroll from embassies and ministries, this neighbourhood is the preferred place of residence of wealthy Parisians who have been living here over several generations, diplomats and foreign investors, attracted by the refined tranquillity just a stone's throw away from Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

This highly sought-after district is one of the most desirable in Paris, offering a secure, stable and long-term investment.

Refinement and serenity define this district, qualities also mirrored by the shops and restaurants within it.

Not to be missed

A converted railway station, the Musée d'Orsay is now a museum dedicated to 19th century painting, but more importantly, it has revived its past by offering a restaurant with a view in a setting that was once the ballroom of the hotel it once housed inside, in place of the tea room that served as a stopover for travellers. An historical afternoon tea.

Deyrolle, a century-old Parisian curiosity, has elevated taxidermy to an art form, with a reputation that extends far beyond our borders - well worth a visit!

Neighborhood Life

Refinement and serenity define this district, qualities also mirrored by the shops and restaurants within it.

Tartine et Chocolat and Bonpoint are perfect for the local little ones.

Rue de Bourgogne is a lively street, filled with a wealth of stalls and delicatessens. The gourmet addresses here create a bubble out of time: the Ducs de Bourgogne will sweep you off your feet with its traditional French cuisine, while Barthelemy delights with its exceptional cheeses. The area is brimming with top tables. Manage the nation's business at lunch at the stainless steel-filled Café des Ministères, or take your time at Racine des Prés, celebrate milestones at Mon Square or escape to the radiant Italian skies of Piero, Pierre Gagnaire's Italian restaurant.

At the weekend, head along the quayside by the Musée d'Orsay, where you can stroll, run and try your hand at longboarding before enjoying a drink at the Rosa Bonheur, offering panoramic views of Paris; or after brunch at Marcel's, take your children to the Musée d'Orsay and play hide-and-seek in the Musée Rodin gardens.

In the summer, lunch at the restaurant in the garden of the Maison de l'Amérique Latine is a must do, offering a country escape in the heart of Paris.

The neighbourhood offers a gentle, peaceful lifestyle of absolute refinement.
